(AUSTIN, Texas) — Over 60 active members and leaders from faith communities around the country have signed on to a letter in support of Sulma Franco, a woman who is taking sanctuary in the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Austin. Franco, an LGBT activist from Guatemala, was denied asylum in the United States after clerical errors were made by her lawyer, and she now faces deportation to certain harm in her country of origin.
